This is also a traditional Hungarian dish. It can be served as dessert or main course. It is really easy to prepare, lot of people think it is hard, and takes a lot of time, but it’s not true. Even a beginner can make it.
Ingredients: 3 big potatoes, 1 spoon of pig fat (can be replaced with 2 spoons of oil), flour, salt, plums.
I cook the potatoes, peel them, and smash them with a fork, until smooth. I added the fat, and flour, as much as needed, while I got a dough mixture.
Put some flour on a board and roll the mixture. Cut squares, in the middle place a quater of washed, unseeded and cut plum, then in your hand make a ball from each of them. In a big sauce pan boil some water, add some salt and then the dumplings. In 10 minutes they are cooked.
While cooking, in a pan add 1 spoon of fat or oil, 2 spoons of sugar and 3-4 spoons of breadcrumbs.
Cook it till the sugar is caramelized, the mixture turns brown. You can make bigger amount, or make it sweater, adding more sugar. Place it in a tin and on the top place the cooked dumplings, roll them in the breadcrumbs.
